Fumed darkness,
grain intact.
Real wood veneer darkened through a controlled smoke process that reacts with the wood\'s own tannins — depth that runs through the sheet, not sat on top.
Smoke reacts
with tannin.
Smoked veneer is real wood veneer put through a controlled smoke-chamber process. The smoke chemically reacts with the wood\'s natural tannins — the darker the tannin content, the deeper the final tone.
Unlike surface stains, the colour change goes through the whole sheet. Sanding or edge-joining does not expose a lighter tone underneath, and the grain stays visible — often read more clearly because the tannin lines carry the darkness. Specified for interiors wanting fumed, aged or smoky character without the cost or lead-time of truly aged solid timber.
Four reasons specifiers
pick smoked over stain.
Through-colour
The smoke reaction penetrates the whole sheet — sanding or edge-joining doesn\'t expose a lighter tone.
Grain enhanced
Tannin-rich grain lines take the smoke deepest — the figure reads more strongly, not flatter.
No pigment
A chemical reaction, not a surface coating. The depth is in the fibre, not in a film on top.
Aged look, now
Delivers the deep patina of decades-old timber without the cost or lead-time of truly aged wood.
Where smoked belongs.
Fifteen smoked species.
Each sliced to 0.5 mm face thickness · 8×4 ft panels · through-fumed. Hover to pause.
Smoke intensity varies by species. Tannin-rich woods like oak and walnut take the deepest tones; low-tannin species like maple and poplar sit lighter even with the same smoke exposure. The reaction is the material.
