A finish, not a species · applied across wood veneers
Rough cut veneers are sawn with minimal processing to preserve the authentic texture, grain variations and natural character of real wood.
With their raw, tactile surface, they bring warmth and rustic elegance to interiors — creating spaces that feel genuine and connected to nature. The texture is cut into the surface during slicing, not embossed or printed, which means every sheet carries the honesty of the mill into finished joinery and cabinetry.
Same species.
Two surfaces.
The same wood species cut two ways. One finished smooth with a clean knife and sanded face. The other sawn with minimal processing so the mill's marks stay on the surface.
Smooth / sanded
A clean knife cut, face sanded to a uniform plane. Grain reads clearly without surface texture. The standard look for cabinetry and refined joinery.
Rough / minimally processed
Sawn with minimal processing. Grain still reads, but the surface itself carries texture, shadow and workshop character — the mill's honesty, left on.
Three steps from log
to finished face.
Carefully Sawn
Wood is sliced with minimal processing to retain the surface character of the cut.
Dried & Flattened
Veneers are dried and flattened to maintain dimensional stability on site.
Quality Checked
Every sheet inspected for texture, grain and consistency before dispatch.
Rough cut is a finish.
It works on every species.
Rough cut is a surface treatment, not a wood type. The same seventeen species from the natural range are available with the rough-cut finish — the species picks the colour and grain, the cut adds the texture.
Standard specifications.
All figures from the Vrikshat Rough Cut Veneer specification. Customisation available on project enquiry.
Surface pattern varies between sheets — a natural outcome of the rough-cut process, not a defect.
Feel the texture in your hand.
Three rough cut samples, your choice of species, dispatched in 48 hours. No obligation — compare the rough-cut face against a smooth sheet of the same wood.
